Google starts counting down to Android O with a new eclipse-themed teaser

Android O has been in developer beta for months, and it looks like the final version might be ready to launch soon, with Google launching an eclipse-themed teaser website counting down toward August 21st. Along with the countdown, the site also features some handy eclipse-tracking tools, including a cute animation of what to expect the eclipse to look like in your location.

Google is saying that the countdown will be for the official reveal of Android O, so it seems safe to say that we’ll be finding out either when Android O releases or what on earth Google will be calling the OS when the timer concludes on 2:40pm EST 21st. Watch the latest teaser trailer for The Punisher

The Defenders hits Netflix today, and with it comes a look at Marvel’s upcoming show The Punisher. Frank Castle was introduced in season 2 of Daredevil. He’s played by Jon Bernthal, who will reprise his role as the gun-toting Army vet out for revenge.

Various rips of the trailer are popping up all over YouTube, much like the one above. The teaser features Bernthal reflecting on the past in a voice-over while hammering away at a cement floor.

Netflix and Marvel greenlit the series last year, shortly after the premiere of Daredevil’s sophomore outing. Bernthal’s version of the character — a villain turned sympathetic antihero seeking justice for his family — was loved by fans and critics.

Google Home now supports free Spotify accounts

Google Home can now stream music from free Spotify accounts, as spotted by Android Police. Google promised to make its Home speaker compatible with more music and video streaming services back at I/O in May, with a list included Deezer, SoundCloud, HBO Now, and Hulu; Home already supports premium Spotify accounts.

With Home, you can ask the device to play a particular song, artist, or album, and with a free-account, requesting these will start a station of songs inspired by the item you choose. If you request a playlist, the music will start playing in shuffle mode. You’re also able to ask for music to be played based on genre, mood, or activity, or for Spotify-curated playlists on a free account, Google says.
